Informit is thrilled to announce the creation of our 2024 First Peoples’ Lens Cultural Fund.
The Cultural Fund is designed to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander projects in research and innovation, with a particular emphasis on the digital sharing of knowledge.
In 2024, the fund will have a total pool of $30,000 to commit to selected projects that meet specific criteria. These include being awarded to an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, group or organisation, focusing on publishing, research or library projects, and prioritising digital knowledge dissemination. While collaboration with Informit is favoured, it is not essential.
Projects that demonstrate broad access and impact for communities will be highly regarded. Examples of eligible projects include digital publications (for example a journal or a book), datasets, library-based catalogue and/or collection projects, websites documenting community cultural development projects or collating data, and research projects that benefit Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities.
The assessment of projects to be funded will be undertaken by Informit’s First Peoples’ Lens Steering Committee, consisting of highly regarded Indigenous academic and publishing industry peers. A Service Agreement will be established with successful recipients, outlining the project scope and milestones.
Informit will acknowledge its contribution to the project’s funding on all published or public material and will promote the project/s through its website, social media and other marketing channels. The intellectual property (IP) remains with the funding recipient/s at all times.
Expressions of Interest for the First Peoples’ Lens Cultural Fund open on 1st March 2024 and close on 10th May 2024. Successful recipients will be announced on 31st May 2024, and all projects must be completed by 31st December 2024.
