The details

Recommended replacement for about.informit.org/partners. The current page reads as a generic feature list that does not communicate why a publisher would choose Informit.

Your voice, amplified

Informit exists to make sure Australian and Australasian scholarship, research, and cultural publishing reaches the audiences that need it. We partner with over 600 publishers, from university presses and professional associations to Indigenous community organisations and independent literary journals. Our collection is accessed by every Australian and New Zealand university library, plus school, public, government, and specialist libraries across the country and internationally.

We are owned by RMIT University. No shareholder extracts a return. Every dollar we earn goes back into sustaining the platform, paying publisher royalties, and funding programs like our annual Indigenous research symposium and Cultural Fund. When you publish with us, your work sits alongside the most comprehensive collection of Australasian content available anywhere, discovered by researchers, students, teachers, and communities who cannot find it through any other single source.

What we offer publishers

Reach: your content is available to every CAUL member university, state library, and a growing network of school, public, and international library subscribers. We handle licensing, access management, metadata, and discovery. You focus on publishing.

Revenue: we pay royalties based on usage through a transparent pool-share model. For OA content, our OA Fund provides notional royalty attribution that finances cultural stewardship programs, including our annual Indigenous research symposium and Cultural Fund. Either way, your content generates value.

Visibility: we actively promote our publishers through social media campaigns, author interviews, subject spotlights, and events. We want you to be seen. Every new title announcement is co-posted with the publisher. Every subject collection spotlight names the publishers whose work makes it possible.

Preservation: content hosted on Informit has persistent access and robust discovery through Google Scholar, EBSCO, Primo, and all major library discovery services. We have been doing this for over 30 years. Your content does not disappear.

Flexibility: our agreements are non-exclusive. You keep your rights, you can work with other platforms, and you can publish OA, subscription, or both. We support traditional and Open Access models and can help you transition between them.

Who partners with us

Our 600+ publisher partners include Aboriginal Studies Press, ACER, the Tax Institute, UNSW Law, Sydney Law School, Engineers Australia, the Australian Institute of Criminology, Meanjin (QUT), Griffith REVIEW, and hundreds of professional associations, learned societies, and university research centres. If you are an Australian or Australasian publisher producing scholarly, professional, educational, or cultural content, you belong here.

For Indigenous publishers and community organisations

We are committed to amplifying Indigenous-led research and community knowledge. Our First Peoples’ Lens program, the annual Kummargii Yulendji Symposium, the Indigenous Scholars You Should Know series, and the Cultural Fund exist to support and celebrate Indigenous publishing. If your organisation produces content that reflects Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, Māori, or Pacific peoples’ knowledge, we want to hear from you. We will work with you on terms, formats, and timelines that respect your community’s priorities.

How it works

1. Get in touch. Tell us about your publication and what you are looking for. 2. We review the content against our curation criteria and discuss terms. Our standard agreement is non-exclusive, publisher-friendly, and straightforward. 3. You supply the content in PDF or XML format. We handle metadata, loading, and quality assurance. 4. Your content goes live on Informit, discoverable by our entire subscriber base. 5. You receive usage reports and royalty payments, and we promote your work through our channels.
